Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) is a policy-making and monitoring body for the maintenance and enhancement of quality in higher education. It is involved in the systematic implementation of quality enhancement procedures/criteria to attain improved levels of international compatibility and competitiveness at the institutional and program levels.
Established in 2005, the Government of Pakistan, through the Higher Education Commission, is providing funding and logistical support for making QEC fully functional. QEC manages the affairs in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Division of HEC, whereas the Quality Assurance Committee (QEC), comprising eminent educationists, serves as its advisory board.
QEC is working to safeguard public interest by enforcing good practices in education and encouraging continuous improvement in quality in higher education.
As per the directions of the higher education commission, the Bhitai Dental and Medical College, Mirpurkhas, established a quality enhancement cell (QEC) in 2019. Now it is a well-established department of the college, headed by a director reporting to the principal of the college. The basic objective of the QEC is to ensure and enhance the quality of education to compete with counterparts within and across the boundaries. It is also responsible for planning and coordinating self-assessment activities in the college, following the guidelines of the HEC, and chalking out further action plans for enhancement of quality education.
