Recently, there has been a tremendous development in medicine and dentistry, which has been accompanied by a significant rise in the awareness among patients. Medical curricula have been grown more complex, with newer ways of education implementation being innovated and implemented, as are new methods of assessment. Health education professionals are also expected to have the potential to educate their faculty members to develop new skills that correspond to these changes.
The department of Health Professions Education Bhitai Dental and Medical College has described their roles to accomplished these challenges.
The Department of Health Professions Education (DHPE) plays a vital supportive role in assisting the Curriculum Committee in the development, design, continuous improvement, within the institution. The DHPE provides educational expertise, evidence-based guidance, and technical support to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant, integrated, learner-centered and aligned with contemporary standards of medical and dental education.
The Department of Health Professions Education (DHPE) shall provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to academic faculty in the planning and effective implementation of teaching and learning activities. The DHPE aims to organize and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and faculty development activities to enhance the knowledge and skills of academic faculty in contemporary and evidence-based teaching strategies. These may include small- and large-group teaching, interactive lectures, development of study guides and learning resources, simulation-based education, e-learning and other digital learning technologies, innovative methods of student engagement and interaction, and the development and effective use of interactive multimedia and PowerPoint presentations. The DHPE shall also promote the adoption of learner-centered, interactive, innovative, and technology-enhanced teaching approaches to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning across the institution.
DHPE provides support to academic departments in developing various types of assessments, including formative and summative assessments. It also assists in the development of tables of specifications medical and dental courses.
1. Policy Statement
DHPE believes great healthcare education needs more than clinical expertise. Faculty must also know how to teach, design curricula, assess students, give feedback, and keep improving.
This policy creates a continuous, competency-based system to help faculty grow as educators and leaders.
2. Purpose
To give all faculty structured opportunities to grow in teaching, curriculum, assessment, leadership, research, and mentorship.

Faculty will develop skills in:

- DHPE: Plan workshops , track participation, evaluate impact, support departments
- Departments: Support faculty participation and apply new skills
- Faculty: Take part, apply learning, reflect, share practices, do research

We will measure impact, not just attendance. Focus: skill gain, better teaching, student feedback, innovation, and scholarship.
7. Recognition
Faculty will be recognized with certificates, awards, leadership roles, and support for research. Development will count toward promotion.

Departments of Medical Education frequently serve as educational support providers to other departments. They provide expertise and guidance in various aspects of teaching and learning, including advising faculty on effective educational practices and supporting the development and implementation of curricula in accordance with the best available evidence in medical and health professions education. The Department also provides support in student assessment and curriculum implementation, and supports faculty in the development of instructional materials, student study guides, online learning resources, and other educational materials. In addition, the Department may assist in the development and coordination of academic timetables to ensure effective planning and delivery of educational activities.
